I am unable to open the pdf file; or the pdf file prints in "gibberish"
The GUISD pdf files must be opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader. The files are encrypted.
If the file is opened in Word or WordPerfect, for example, you will see page after page of characters that make no sense.
If you have Acrober Reader, open Reader. Then select File, Open, and browse to where the pdf file is saved. Select the file and click Open.
If you do not have Acrobat Reader, it is a free download from the Adobe website, http://www.adobe.com. On the Adobe home page, click the button for Get Acrobat Reader. The free download version will work with GUISD's pdf files. TOP
Site Connection/Download Problem
This happens regularly when files are purchased from school lab computers, or from computers that need a little basic web maintenance.
Chances are that your browser cache is corrupt. Don't worry; this is not a virus; it happens and is easy to fix.
Browsers save pages in cache memory -- so you do not have to reload each page you visit, unless you select the Refresh button.
From time to time, this cache memory can become unworkable. Follow the steps below. Then try to reconnect to the GUISD website. Note: in clearing the cache you are not removing any computer programs. You will only enhance the ability of the browser to view web pages.
If you wish, click the link, Help Window. The Help page will open in a separate browser window. If you keep this small window open, you will not have to write down any of the steps to clear the cache.

While we encourage you to bookmark the GUISD site, there is no need to bookmark anything other than the GUISD home page.
Since this site does not use cookies, your order is tracked using variables that are only available when you are on the site. Bookmarking detail pages, or checkout pages, could present errors. TOP
Session Expires
For your protection, if the website does not detect action on your part after 60 minutes, your session will end.
Also, once you are "logged in", the option to Log Out when your shopping is complete is provided. While it is not necessary to log out, it is a good idea to do so. If you close the browser window before logging out, the session will automatically log you out after 60 minutes.
Site Gives Error Page
The principal reason for this is a corrupt browser cache. Follow the steps outlined above in Site Connection/Download Problem. If that does not fix the problem, please call me toll free at 877-703-4660, x204, Monday through Friday, between 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Another possible reason is ad-ware or spyware. If you are not running any packages to keep these programs off of your computer, consider your computer compromised -- at its best, you will notice a considerable drop in speed when using the computer; at its worst, information from your computer is being sent to the person who wrote the ad-ware or spyware program. Because these programs use most of your computer resources, you may be unable to maintain a connection to this or any other web site.
There are many free programs to stop this. I suggest running at least two programs at the same time, since not every program catches every ad-ware. The computer department at your school probably recommends the packages it likes best.
Do not confuse these ad-ware programs with viruses. You will still need to run an anti-virus package. Anti-virus packages do not always work as well with spyware.
